World’s Biggest Snow Centre Planned For Russia



Dutch-based company Unlimited Snow/Snow Biz have been appointed general consultants on a new indoor snow centre project for Moscow, Russia.

The complex, which would be the first in the country and could open by 2008 or 2009, envisages an indoor snow surface of 40,000 square metres. That is 5000 square metres more than the current largest, Snow World Landgraaf in the Netherlands.

The complex would include separate slopes for beginners and intermediates as well as having facilities for more advanced skiers including slalom and moguls slopes. Freestyle elements would include a big air and half pipe. There would also be tubing for snow fun. The facility will be anchored by an indoor Alpine themed village arena with all kind of other snow and ice amusements.

The length of the domed route is more than 400 meters (1200 ft) and is 60 m (180 ft) wide. More than 800 people can ski or snowboard at the same time.
